Skin dryness is a very common skin condition, that can occur in all ages but it can be exhausting dealing with facial dryness specifically. As we age our oil glands tend to dry up which can lead to skin dryness but it can occur at younger age too. There are quite a reasons which can lead to dryness.

Causes:
Genetics: Our genetics play huge part in the formation of our skin. How your skin behaves can be a contribution of genes from your parents and family.
Environmental factors: The climate and the weather you live in can also affect on your skin. Living in cold and dry climates can make Your skin dry.
Heat: Prolonged exposure of skin to hot showers, stove heat and even central heating can also cause dryness in the skin.
Skin products: using harsh products on skin can also be damaging to the skin, products that contain alcohol, harsh surfactants and other drying ingredients.
Skin condition: You might be having eczema or psoriasis if you see dry patches on your skin.You must consult your doctor if you think the dryness is severe and is leaving scars behind.
How to treat skin dryness:
Now let’s talk about the possible solutions. Skin dryness can be treated using products or home remedies. Following are few tips and suggestions to keep skin moisturized always:
Water: very cliche, I know… but drinking water will solve 70% of your problem. Staying hydrated will keep your skin plump and moisturized at all times.Drink about 1.5 to 2 litres of water everyday. You can also incorporate fruits or smoothies in your diet to uptake the water content in your body.
Moisturizers: Using serums and moisturizers regularly will replenish your skin’s top most layer which is mainly responsible for the flakiness and irritation. Using products with hydrating ingredients will help in restoring moisture in the skin.
Exfoliation: Regular exfoliation of skin is very important. Our skin replaces itself in every month or so and forms a dead layer on top of new skin. If this dead layer is not lifted of it can cause itchiness and scales. Using an exfoliator once or twice a week will help in renewing the skin by lifting the dead layer of skin.
Humidifier: Using a humidifier in home or workplace where you are always in controlled temperature, the air can be really drying. Placing a humidifier can really help alleviate dry air from the area which can be really helpful in keeping skin moist.
Exercise: It might not sound right as we all get dry skin after we sweat out but in long term workout is a good means to keep your whole body hydrated. You might be doing everything right from your skin care to your food intake but if the fluids in your body do not move, there is no point of doing it all. Exercising helps not only to keep you fit but also give a natural glow to your skin.
